The Champions At Revival Schools the new school year is just getting underway. Coinciding with this, Madam Allen tells us that the national exam results from the previous year are beginning to be released. The first results for the pupils in their final year at Revival Primary school are in with 8 first grades and 27 second grades, no third grades and no failures! Madam Allen says “We are grateful unto God for helping these children. All other odds were beaten to put up such a performance”. We are now waiting for the Examination body to release the Senior 4 (equivalent of our GCSEs) and Senior 6 results (equivalent of our A levels). We will keep you posted! As Madam Allen recently said “We cannot boast about this, if it had not been for your support in all areas of running the school. We are grateful for every support (spiritual, moral and financial)”.
Revival Church – Moves Revival Church is at the heart of Ivan’s ministry in Matugga, and in June Ivan shared with us his need for help. The church meets in shared premises with the Primary school, but due to new regulations the church needs to have its own site separate from the school. In September the farm at Nagaseke was sold and the proceeds enabled us to purchase a piece of land near to the entrance gate to Revival Centre, and the church are in the process of raising funds to put up a new building for church use only. GACAH would be delighted to be a conduit for any supporters who would like to help Ivan build his church. Please send us an email for more information. (giveachildahope@gmail.com)
Gombe Farm Gombe Farm has experienced challenging times recently. In October, sadly all the chickens were stolen just as they were ready for market. They have been replaced, but the cost of this coupled with the rising cost of feed due to inflation means that the farm is struggling to meet its costs. The aim of the farm project is to help Revival become more sustainable and it has been funded by a group of supporters over the last two years. We can only hope that with hard work and continued support, the farm will recover from this set back.
EFOD – Progress on the new Maize Mill construction by Engineers for Overseas Development (EFOD) In 2016 when the trustees visited the site, the field contained dense vegetation, was very steep and the sloping land ended in a ditch close to the main road. EFOD accepted the challenge of preparing a culvert, then clearing the land and setting foundations for the new grain mill. In 2019 the first engineers from EFOD led by Zak Raja (West Midlands branch) arrived at the site to begin the work. In 2020 the engineers will beback with the ambition of completing the build of the mill and handing over the whole site to Bishop Ivan for active service at the end of the summer.
2020 – is the 20th anniversary of The Revival Centre! This year marks Ivan’s 20th visit to us – we have much to be thankful for and we are making plans to mark this with a special event during the June visit. We will be sending out an invite to a party in June, details will follow soon. Leading up to that we would love to hear from you(giveachildahope@gmail.com) with any ideas that you might have – celebratory or fund raising – we want to be able to raise the funds required to finish the new secondary school block; desks, computers, teaching aids etc. to mark this milestone in our partnership with Ivan and all at Revival Centre.
