The Revival Centre in Matugga, Uganda

Sponsorship Questions & Answers

Can I write to my sponsored child?

You are welcome to write the occasional letter to your sponsored child and they will be encouraged to reply. It is very exciting for the children to receive a written letter with stamps from a foreign country. E-mails cannot be sent as the Revival Centre does not have a direct internet connection.

To send a letter by post, use the postal address of the Revival Centre given below and write your sponsored child’s full name at the top of the address. As the post is delivered to a post office box in Kampala it may be some time before the letter is collected and responded to.

Can I send money or gifts to my sponsored child?

We appreciate your generosity but we cannot allow you to send money or gifts directly to your sponsored child. The money given by sponsors is used by the Revival Centre to provide for the needs of all the orphans. It is not fair to those orphans who may not have a sponsor to see their fellow orphans receive money or gifts. It can cause jealousy and can give the recipient children false ideas about their relationship with their sponsor.

Children need to remain motivated in their studies and learn how to become independent. Pastor Ivan is keen that the children develop their self-esteem and confidence and do not grow up in a culture of dependency.

How will my child be selected?

While all the children are equally loved and special we do allow sponsors to say whether they wish to sponsor one or more children and to say whether they would want to sponsor boys or girls or have no preference. We have found that some sponsoring families with children often like to sponsor a little brother or sister for each of their own children. We hold a list of male and female orphans and the children are assigned a sponsor stricty in the order they appear in the list.
